Recently I feel like I have been struggling to move forward. My health feels good, I have no aches or pains that have me doubting and yet at times I feel like I am sabotaging myself in many areas in my life. Why? Because I have started saying things like: Who am I to write a book? Why would anyone want to listen to me? What do I know? I’m not a world renowned speaker and author so I guess that means what I’ve experienced and what the women I’ve interviewed and supported have gone through isn’t important…NO!
Today in a moment of clarity I realized that when I lose sight of what I want to achieve and why is when my self-doubt rears its’ ugly head. What I am truly passionate about is supporting women with breast cancer find their voice so they feel empowered, a little stronger and a little taller as they face the challenges they will inevitably face and that goes for me still – 6 years later!
I implore you – if you are blaming yourself or your circumstances, questioning what your life means or emotionally and physically “running out of gas” now might be an excellent time to find something to empower you. It could be the listening ear of a friend or therapist, it could be an amazing meditation, spiritual practice or a book that speaks to you or it might be a new hobby, business venture or creative outlet that fills you up. The bottom line is to find something to help you get your groove back (or find your new groove). Then for this moment you can get the self-doubt monkey off your back.
Next time I’ll share a couple of my tricks…until then revel in the opportunity to grow, explore and learn about who you are, what you want and what you will do to get it.
